| My wife and I went in Jan. It was a great trip and we asked a lot of questions before we went to figure out what to do. We flew into Honalulu (Ohahu) for 3 days, stayed at the Luana, Waikiki, and then went on a cruise ship and stopped on Maui, Kona and Hilo on the big Island and then Kauai. I would only go to Ohahu to see Pearl Harbor and drive the shore. It is big city like and the traffic is heavy. It is pretty expensive there also.
I think the cruise ship is a nice way to see several islands and you don't have to be packing up all the time. You cruise at night and dock during the day. Kauai was the best for us, less people and plenty of natural beauty. I took tons of pictures and If you want, send me an email and I can tell you much more about what worked for us. We flew direct out of Chicago.
