| Its not official yet, it will get voted on in June. Supposedly they have already pruchased fuel for the next couple years. Something like 1 million dollars per fuel bundle and they probably replace 1/3 of them every refuel outage. Scary thing is when natural gas goes up in price, It won't stay low forever. Wind dosent produce much in the summer and winter when its needed the most. Nuclear plants can last a long time, most every thing can be fixed/replaced except the reactor its self and monitoring water chemistry keeps everything in good shape. Its going to be interesting where we get power from 30 years from now. Also as a note, Calhoun produce far less than 1/3 of Nebraska's power. Probably less than a 1/10 or more if you factor in peakers. | |
