The power company owns the easements, they can do whatever they want whenever they want.  Thats why they are pay big money for them and the owner sits back and says, oh well got my money.  They also pay damages for 4 years.  There will be a similar line 3/4 miles long installed at the end of one of my rental fields anyday now.  Not looking forward to it but FIL is happy with the check.
