Where does that number come from?
That would be a pretty good yardage rate for 40 sows for a month. If you could feed sows in a finishing building for that yardage rate and keep a building full it would be a very good paying job.
Even if you figured they needed double the amount of space as a finishing hog it would be $48/finishing space vs $35-40 for taking care of pigs and you'd never have to start little pigs.
The only downside would be dealing with big dead sows.
