Callao, Missouri | I tried flying cereal rye into 30" milo at the same time as I did corn in the fall of 2014. It didn't work for two reasons.
1. The milo leaves were still green and so dense that the light through the canopy wasn't enough to sustain growth after germination.
2. The leaf architecture of milo caught a bunch of seed. I found milo to be a lot worse than corn.
I did this in early September. If I had waited till October, there might have been enough light to keep the rye growing. | |
