Iowa
My wife & I stayed at a ski lodge near Whitefish that was very nice. http://www.kandaharlodge.com/

Whitefish in general was a good ( edit: town)to to base out of and was not far from Glacier. Like the Hungry Horse Dam, Goat Lick was worth stopping to see if you are passing by. Ditto the Huckleberries.

If you can do any hiking at all, you might want to try the trail leading to Hidden Lake. It is only about a mile and a gain of about 500 feet in elevation, but the changes in scenery, the views, and the wildlife in that short hike is spectacular. The trail begins at the visitor's center at the top of the Going to the Sun Road.
