UCC filings expire 5 years from date of filing. If it's close to that timeframe, you can wait on it to expire, then double-check later on to be sure they don't automatically renew. Not a perfect solution, but an option. Did have one place suggest that they'd charge a $5 service fee to release one way earlier than that when the loan was paid off, but we protested that and they released w/o a fee.
