This light blinking means the ECU has an active trouble code being stored. Can be many different reasons. Hook up Service Advisor laptop.

X2. To the OP, the light will glow solid when using the intake preheat feature, but also doubles (when blinking) as a indicator that you have an active trouble code.

Before you call your local dealer, disconnect the connector from the water in fuel sensor pigtail (on the fuel filter with the clear plastic bowl on the bottom) and screw out the drain plug enough to let fuel/water run out until it's pure fuel. Tighten the drain plug, connect your pigtail for the water in fuel sensor, and see if your problem is corrected. The slightest bit of water in that clear bowl can create your symptoms. May not be the problem, but It's worth a shot.

Post your results!!

(Edited to add) Be sure your coolant tank is full as was mentioned. It's a couple easy things to do before you call your local dealer.)
