I tried using Duflex tags over the more expensive AllFlex tags for a few years and discovered they only last a year or two. Personally, I buy the largest blank tag I can get and put the number on as large as I can write and include inservice year at the top, so I know how old the cow is without having to look it up. Then each cow gets two, and the calves one.
Lots of ways to do it, but that serves my purposes. I never liked having to order printed tags in the sequence I was needing (farm stores rarely go higher than 100), and custom printing can add as more than $1.00 to each tag. They all fall out, they all fade, they all get worn. I buy the blanks and have a ready supply to make the specific one I need if a replacement tag is required. | |
