Most everyone is going to say you are crazy. You need to decide if they are right or wrong.
Your situation is completely different than what we encounter here as far as feed and grazing. However, it sounds like you have the bases covered. If you have a complete facility and full line of machinery, and can budget somebody to manage the herd, why not? What will you lose if the endeavor does not pan out?
I have spent half my life trying to make dairying pencil as a living. Grew up inspecting farms with Grandpa and always dreamed of having my own milk herd. Just isn't practical with our limited land base. Only four dairies left in this two county area. Lost five just this past year. All those were under 50 head.
