Shipping fever doesn't bother me - I can kick its butt
Mycoplasma and other viral strains have wrecked me..
Yearlings are immune enough to viral loads/mycoplasma I think it is fine.
Bawlers are a different story.
A good barn will feed right - not too full
I have shipped a load 2 days, a load the day before and a load that morning all in the same week. Day of shrunk 2.5% and the two days before were 3 lbs heavier - were within 25 pounds and brought 1-2 cwt different favoring the lighter ones (it paid the feed bill plus some - barn is 90 miles away)
Thd other load was 60lb lighter so not really comparable, this was last year at this time coming off wheat.
A feedlot that I have sold directly to said they like them early so they can view them, didn't say anything about sickness/ they know my vaccine protocol - I like selling at the barn now days - in the country we were shrinking 2% and that more than pays for all feed/commision plus it's a true market and no second guessing if you got enough.
