Nobody really answered the question about shipping fever, and I would bet most buyers would want as less exposure at the sale barn as possible. If they were immediately put out on a small grass pasture at the sale barn, that would be pretty good. Vaccinated calves can get shipping fever, too. I read direct injected's post, and he did prove that he could avoid shrink, although I have never heard of anyone doing that here or if it was available. The one thing he didn't really prove is if he would have made more money vs shipping sale day. If he would have sent another load sale day, being same quality cattle and weights, and sold separately, then he would have a fair comparison.
