Subject: RE: growing alfalfa for seed in Northeast Nebraska

NE Nebraska
There was a guy south of Spencer, Ne on the west side of the curve south of town combining some a few years ago with a 6600 I remember. That's the only time I've seen anybody grow alfalfa seed here in Ne. I thought it was a heck of an idea, harvest the seed then still have some feed, but I myself know nothing about growing alfalfa seed and if it needs dry weather, up by Spencer and that north central Ne, and south central Sd tends to get awfully dry come summer time. Much drier on average than here in the east. Why does alfalfa need such an arid climate to make good seed?
