Near-north Ontario, French River | Kevin, we something similar happen years ago when dad had a tire changed at a local tire shop, luckily the tire didn't come off , but it did ruin the rim and require new studs. I think this is a case where the blame is shared. Yes the dealer screwed up but your neighbour shares some responsibility as well. In cases like this tires just don't fall off without some type of warning. In my dad's case he noticed a vibration while driving which lead to him taking a quick look at the tires, where he noticed the loose nuts. I know no one does it but there's a reason that tire shops put notes on their invoices to recheck torque after installation . |
