West Texas | - Also got a notice from a collection agency. Supposed past due bill from Farmers Auto Ins. Daughter was driving my car and had a small fender bender. Small ding on my car, nothing on the other car but the woman in the other car demanded to go to the ER to get checked out. Checked and released. Couple months later, I received a cancelation letter from Farmers. Went down and talked to the agent and he said that he would check into it. Didn't hear anything and it was getting close to the termination date so I went to another company and got insurance. Called the agent and told him that I was now insured by the other company. About a year later I get the letter from the collection agency and I called Farmers. They explained that they had canceled the cancelation notice and when my policy expired, they continued to insure me for 2 more months and I owed them for the 2 months. I had all of the papers in front of me and when I got through talking with the gentleman?, they assured me that it would all be taken care of. About two weeks later I got a check for the 3 months of premium from their original cancelation date and a letter apologizing for the (mistake). I did inquire as to why they didn't bill me before they sent it to collections and was informed that it was just a waste of time to send a bill for that type of collection. This was around 18 or 19 years ago. It never showed up on my credit report.
