Just balance the ration. Take salt:
Corn. No salt there.
Hay. No salt there
Silage. No salt there.
Pellets. What kind of pellets? Any salt there? IF NOT, better offer salt!!
Then do the same for phosphorus. For calcium. For magnesium etc etc etc. (Just like you do for protein and energy....) If your homegrown feedstuffs are lacking, then you supplement them with purchased ingredients so their nutritional needs are met.
(When I was in high school we learned to do this in Ag Class. But I guess that isn't offered commonly anymore....) |
