ne iowa | I've noticed my 900# cattle like to stick their head through the fence and lick the dirt. They are on corn and pellets and a little silage and a very little bit of hay. So I'm wondering if they are missing something in their diet. I put a half a mineral tub in their pen and they went crazy for it and had it gone in a couple days. 22 head. Is this confirmation that they are needing something? Should I get more tubs for them? Tubs cost $100 for 225#. They would probably slow down consumption rate once they in for a while, right?
