If you do a 5 year lease with a 20% residual you write off the first 80% in 5 years of payments and then depreciate the residual on a schedule over 20 years, right?
So technically it's slower depreciation as you are pushing off the depreciation but there is more tax benefit from expensing the first 80% in 5 years.
