Columbia Basin, Ephrata, WA | I don't think farmers should be exempt from emissions, I think Tier 2 was where they should have stopped for agriculture. The cost:benefit ratio of the higher tiers is dubious at best, and most ag equipment does not run anywhere near populated areas where air quality suffers.
I think there are much bigger air quality fish to fry. Emissions are a little molehill of an issue compared to the (literal) mountains of forests that are mismanaged and burn every summer. Do you know what it feels like to fill your tractor with DEF while visibility is less than 1/2 a mile due to forest fire smoke? High tier emissions are a feeble, futile waste of time and resources. You might as well set out to empty the Atlantic Ocean with a bucket.
