To siphon water do I need as much hose on bottom side?

Shop Vac..  Or if your fast a intake on a vehicle.   Might want 20 feet of clear hose for that so you don't "flood" the engine.

 On siphon tubes, I use to be able to set 150& 1-1.5" tubes on a good "head" without "topping" the ditch  before I got "Dunlop disease ".  I learned how to set tubes walking in the ditch.  Can do it 4 different ways, but preferred  in the ditch as I didn't have to bend as far.
