Subject: Killed him with kindness

SW So Dakota
Had a heifer about a week ago that claimed another calf while she was calving and abandoned her own after she had it. It's usually an easy fix, lock them up in the barn, sprinkle some O No Mo on the calf and they bond overnight. Not so much on this one, fought her for a week and she was just starting to claim her calf but would only let her calf suck on one side and kick him off the other. So I thought I would show her, locked her in the head gate, let the calf suck her out completely, life is good. Next morning the calf is dead, classic case of clostridial overeating, bloated up like a balloon. Unbelievable.
