Subject: RE: Differences between strip till and zone till?

In my experience, strip till started in the fall will work better at my latitude and north because the bared ground from the tillage operation lets it dry and warm up in the spring while the stover still cuts way back on rain induced erosion like no till. In 2008 I planted beans in mid June after corn no till because it took the ground that long to warm up to 60 and to dry enough to support the tractor and planter without smearing the trench sidewalls too much. My tenant this year planted corn April 18 and its up with strip till.
