Here is my bitch with it. I am employed by DuPont. The President and second in command both got bonuses of 27 and 50 million dollars. Bonuses on top of there wage. At my corn plant we had a great year. We treated and shipped over a million units of corn our maintenance costs were down and we had record preventative maintenance goals met. So you know what they did for us? They froze all raises. Why you ask, well we need to cut 700 million dollars out of our budget. They could have had there bonuses and I would have had no problem with it if the production workers would have seen some raises. But we didn't. It bugs me and A LOT of others at our plant. Maybe I'm out of line with my thinking idk. Just my opinion.

Your not out of line. The problem was not what the top made, it the good job you, didn't get rewarded for.

I know I am odd , but I always thought everyone in a company should get a paid according to their jop. I.e. President paid more than guy on the loading dock. But any bonuses should be split evenly top to bottom. Because everyone is equally responsible for getting product out the door.

I disagree with that one big time. I worked for a company like that and doing that unmotivated those who worked hard and did nothing to motivate those who did.

I had to train my replacement since I got a different position within the company. He was a nice guy but he sucked as an employee. No drive whatsoever, none. I said this to management and they poo pooed it. He would see the work orders pile up and he didn't care, if those customers called to canceled he figured its less for him to do.

I looked at it like those people want their stuff done and the faster we eliminate that pile the better. He would do whatever he could to get out of work. I said many times when I was running with him you had two people out there but really you only had .5. I had to crack the whip to get him moving or he would doddle along all day. I was doing more in a 8 hour day by myself then he was with my help in 12-14.

In almost any company some employees excel, others are just there and then the rest drag everyone down. Why would you want to pay them all the same?

I think better employees should be rewarded in there weekly pay not in the bonus. If you do twice the work your weekly should be double. Also sounds like you're replacement should have been shown the door. The bonus is a reward for the company as a whole do better than expected. Don't have a problem if bonus is given as a percentage of pay. Like 10 percent for everyone. Encourages everyone to want the company to succeed.
