| Adding more to confusion, the newer tractors with the tremendous torque rise also produce considerably more horsepower at speeds lower than rated. For example, the JD 8420 produces 235 hp at rated rpm, and it increases to 269 when pulled down to 2000 rpm. It is my understanding that these newer tractors can be operated safely at reduced rpm, at maximum power. The fuel economy also increases considerably at the lower rpm. | |
