Actually, if you read up on ticks, they are amazing creatures. They can live for years between meals, the females will feed, molt, feed and drop off to lay eggs, shrink back down and start all over again.
I always think of Larry the Cable Guy when I hear about these. He saw a girl with a Cindy Crawford birthmark that turned out to be a tick!
Ticks!
