nw NC
A few questions . What is source of water, a pond ? How high is hump?

Below is sketch of a siphon system that I devised to drain a pond . Consists of PVC pipe, 6- 90 degree elbows, 2 tees, 1 slip x female pipe thread adapter, 1 male threaded plug , 2 slip ball valves, number of couplings as needed for pipes . This pipe system is not permanently glued so it can be removed as necessary.

The only glued joints are on the pipe with risers which are under water so they will not slip apart and be lost under water. All other joints fit tightly enough that they seal sufficiently to hold vacuum without glue. Joints at the "corners" of the dam allow flexibility to fit angles.

To operate, install system into place . Close both ball valves. Fill pipe with water through tee with plug. When pipe is full , install pipe plug . Open ball valve at water level , quickly move to (or have someone else) open lower ball valve at same time. Water flows.

You could use hose, some hose barb fittings and adapters as required to construct a similar system.
Or.... Put ball valve at lower end of your hose, fill hose with water. When hose is full, cup your hand over the end of it and have assistant go to ball valve. When he is ready, put your end of hose into water, remove your hand and tell assistant to open ball valve. Push your end of hose into water as far as is necessary to drain the amount of water that you desire.
