Amherst WI | For some reason when I am just about done doing putting crops in or taking crops out the last day of it just fights you tooth and nail.
Machinery that worked flawless for weeks now has turned to junk. Weird stuff you'd never expect just decides to go.
Last day of planting corn should have been yesterday. Work was pandemonium so I got a later start than planned which this time of year is normal.
I had to transfer some starter from the semi trailer to the nurse trailer. Rope breaks on the pump motor so I let it gravity flow into the trailer while I put fix it and put the recoil back on and the engine won't start. Oh well get enough to finish any way, so I'll deal with that later.
Then I get to the field. Planter worked fine before, now it won't plant over 5k seeds an acre according to monitor. Seems like it planting fine, recalibrate it and now the monitor agrees with what's going on.
I plant that 6 acre field and head to the next. I make two rounds and then top it off with fertilizer and seed so I don't have to deal with that any more for the rest of the night.
Now I get back to planting and 5 rows claim they are planting 105k while the others are doing what they are supposed to. Get out and check, they are planting fine.
I clean the sensors after pulling the 3/4 full boxes off to get at the tubes. Doesn't help. Then I replace a sensor and try that. Doesn't help either. Finally at 11PM I gave since I could hardly see any thing any way and hope to finish today after I call and see why it's doing this.
Harvesting has been as bad too, I've had major combine failures with less than a day left two years in a row too. | |
