| Not sure how in the world pointing out that someone who receives hundreds of thousands of dollars of breaks is simultaneously complaining about a free 75 cent lunch some poor kid receives is "liberal." A true conservative would say let the free market work on the farm just like everywhere else - and I believe that. I haven't inherited anything yet, and although I probably will inherit the farm referenced in my username someday, I'm actively saving money to buy one on my own far before that day ever comes. I was raised by a farmer father who has expected me to go out into the real world and make my own way until it's my turn (if it ever is my turn), not sit around milking the teat waiting for dad to die to claim my inheritance because I "worked so hard" on his seasonal grain operation. He also taught me not to listen to the whining farmers who've never worked off the farm and have no idea how many advantages they are given over others. That doesn't mean that farming doesn't have challenges or that farmers don't work hard, but it's hypocritical not to acknowledge that farmers receive more than their fair share of help. | |
