There won't be much oil sand burning as there's a 100 feet of overburden except in the valley. The biggest problem is the houses built among the trees while a bit of common sense would demand a 100 yard tree free zone between the forest and the houses. Fires like this are going to happen in the boreal forest sooner or later.
