Subject: RE: Lidar vs. RTK map

NW Ohio
Pros: It is free and it is done

Cons: Depending on how far apart they took the shots, less accurate or more accurate data but when more accurate it is a very large file. I have data from here in Ohio that it taken every two feet. It took Farm Works Surface/Mapping almost an hour to do the topo for the data I had. Another issue is software to "clip" the data down to only the field you want.

Is it accurate enough to do drainage work with, perhaps. Depends when the data was collected. I have used it to do drainage design, just a rough design. Then while we were in the field, we tiled the field as an "as built" field. Works great like that.
