The easiest way to get along is make sure all the lights work. Tail and turn and brake are a big deal along with headlights. Next is tires ------most of them have either a little lazy streak or a vendetta with a lazy streak--------if the easy stuff is ok then usually some things will slide . Show up with a visible flat tire with a tail light out and it awakens something in them that makes them dig deeper
