I have a semi, dump truck, and operating authority. Nobody likes the DOT and some of the rules are dumb but every officer I have encountered has been fair. Yes we have got some tickets over the years but they were legit and we were in the wrong. I have been cut slack several times on minor issues. My experience is if you make a honest attempt to do things right and you don't have anything wrong that is flat out dangerous you will be ok.
