They are doing that here too. I believe Will County has DOT certified officers that do inspections. Elwood and Wilmington have their own town officers that are DOT certified. There are also several other "local" jusrisdictions around the Chitcago and colar county area that have their own DOT officers. It's all about making a buck for themselves while shoving their hands in the truck drivers. The state DOT bears went nuts around here a few years ago going after guys in grain lines in the fall at local elevators, although I haven't heard much about it going on like that over the last couple of falls. I will say that I've heard more and more about the portables and the DOT showing up around this area again.
