There was a real horrible fire today at one of the area's local farms. Luckily, there wasn't any injuries. This farm is one of the bigger farms in the area. They grow a lot of vegetables like cabbage, peas, potatoes, and snap beans. They also have a lot of cash crop acreage.
I toured the farm a few years back and went into this particular barn. It was for the most part empty because it was so big, but there were a lot of older IH and farmall tractors in it with pto generators and pumps and a lot of irrigation equipment.
Here are some links to the fire: http://www.thebatavian.com/blogs/howard-owens/batavia-my-t-acres-barns-engulfed-flames/3293 http://www.13wham.com/news/local/story/Large-Barn-Fire-Near-Batavia/tNP59Dv8-kGT2HuppZe5Iw.cspx
Just a reminder to be careful out there.....
