Subject: RE: case 1570 vs. allis chalmers 7080 vs. white 2-180

Northwest Iowa
In our area the "pumpkins" (AC)were popular in their day as they were 3000 less than a "binder"(IHC) and 5000 less than a Deere. Only know of one 7080 that was around but only about 2 years. Friend had a 7050 and 7045. He said if the drawbar was cool to the touch, they would need ether. Used a 2255 Oliver one spring. The 6 cylinder would have been better than the V-8. It was not impressive at all. Not many Case around here. Lots of power in the 1570 but the neighbors had a hard time keeping theirs cool and finally cooked the head. Head was replaced but still runs hot. It is a "Spirit of '76" so it like is a Shop Queen any more. 504 and case PS repairmen are getting long in the tooth and harder to find. In that tractor group, I would likely choose 1570, 2-180, 7080 for me. Might need all 3 to keep one in the field!
