East Central South Dakota
As you go down the food chain towards grain, I think vertical integration has more challenges than livestock proteins had in owning all the hotels on one side of the board, creating a monopoly and thus eliminating new market entries. Grain has real ownership separation in the different business platforms it takes to raise a crop. What could change that ?

The Congress failed to pass legislation preventing states from passing their own individual GMO labeling laws. Europe is flat out rejecting GMO technology. If identity preservation and segregation is forcefully legislated on the grain business, will Monsanto just give up and abandon decades of research which produced a trait revenue stream that runs more like a mighty river OR will they merge in with grain companies on production contracts that will create grain separation business platforms that will necessitate vertical intragation business operating agreements ? ?
