Subject: RE: White/Oliver Steering Cylinder

Upper Sandusky, Ohio
On my 2-135 I had several things that were causing the steering box to move, the link was bad that your talking about, the needle bearings for the pitman shaft were wore out causing play there, and the pinion gear splines were wore out where it goes on the pitman shaft. Of course to do all that you have to remove the box. I "think" you have to remove the box to even change the link because the link cannot drop down far enough, although you might be able to just pick it up a little bit. Of course there is not enough room to get the box off without taking the damper off the front of the engine first. When I did it i just picked up the front of the hood and took a block of wood to hold it up, removed the front grill and aluminum piece, laid the coolers on the front weights, removed the radiator, and got to it just fine.
