Subject: What About Late Spring Planting ahead of Winter Wheat or Rye?

Central MN
I have idle ground that I would like to plant a winter crop on next year and have no plans for a spring planted crop. Would it be benificial to no-till in some radishes then plow them down this fall ahead of drilling winter wheat or rye? Would the Radishes make a good green manure and decrease the amount of N I need to apply?

Sounds like an interesting possibility to me.

Also, idle ground is very light texture (almost sandy) soil with a very heavy amount of trash from old weeds etc. Plowing is almost going to be a neccessity for the first year.
