SC Wisconsin | Interesting read on what went wrong. I followed 3DR from the early days and recall some of the concerns raised when Colin Guinn (former DJI) was brought onboard. The jist of concerns were if he might replicate the frustration some experienced with DJI problems at the time.
Startups in any industry are always risky, especially when scaling up as rapidly as this group did. Walking is pretty easy after you learn how, running a marathon verses a 5K takes a bit more orchestration and resiliencancy to finish the race. I'm sad to see them fail in this round. The concept and discussions of what they intended to deliver were what many wanted. Open source did a lot to advance their system, as DYIdrones has been a good info source for many as well. But that same open source model has failed before and apparently has some limits when playing in the big leagues. | |
