Capacitor = pressure tank on a well or an accumulator in a hydraulic circuit
Resistor = restrictor oriface
Diode = one way check valve
Transistor (J-FET, MOSFET, etc) = quarter turn valve with a small hydraulic cylinder to open the valve and a spring to hold it closed.
