NE Iowa | I bet it was milk fever. Have had 2 cases over the years. Both times were the day after she calved. Before my time our farm used to milk Holsteins so dad and grandpa knew what milk fever was like. So when we had a cow that couldn't get up we called the vet and asked if the could come IV a cow with milk fever. Both times when they showed up they started off saying "Beef cows don't get milk fever". They IV'd the calcium and the cow got up in a few minutes. To which the vet said "I guess you were right". | |
