Farming in NW Iowa | I just have poor luck with hydraulic motors of any type with these open center tractors. I have a John deere 250 spray cart hooked to a disc I put Treflan on with. When I bought it there was a Hypro hydraulic pump which was the correct one for open center tractors from 9 to 12 GPM flow. I had it on a 1256 and had a zero pressure return. I set the needle valve on the motor for the correct range of spray pressure, but I could barely lift the disc or the wings without turning off the sprayer pump. I put on a belt drive pto pump and am much happier with it.
I don't think these smaller pumps will have enough flow for the extra 5 rows on the planter now. Probably borederline with 8 rows, and add in the Precision seed discs it needs more yet. Add in the Rawson with 3 or 4 and no way. A Deere dealer told me the 540 pumps are rated at 3.9 GPM @ 85% of rated speed at 1500 psi, and the 1000 are 5.1 GPM @ 85% speed @ 2000 psi.
May be better off with a cooler and a reservoir and a pump like these..
