North Central Kansas | I use the 12 the most and that's for line posts. I do have a 9 inch that I can use sometimes. 18 most of the time for corners. If the corner will set in a 12 inch hole, it's a little small. I'd like the corner to have at least an 8-10 inch top and 10 foot long. 9 foot minimum. Some people just love those monster corners and I've set some that barely fit in a 24. I am more concerned about the length so I can bury it 5 feet deep. A line post should have a 4 inch top.
Telephone poles, and creosote posts won't stay as well as a hedge. I have buried those 8 foot creosote posts, half in the ground, packed in with my hydraulic tamper, and they still move.
I don't even carry hand diggers. I just dig a bigger hole. | |
