To be fair, I wouldn't want a new CAFO, across the road from my farm either, but that is why we have set backs and there are plenty of sites in South Dakota where neighbors are not an issue.
In the Dakota's if you propose to build a new hog site 2 miles from the nearest house they will act like you're putting it in their actual backyard.
In contrast you can't get 2 miles from hogs anywhere you go in this part of the world.
They also think that the manure is going to be dumped directly into the nearest river.... Apparently they see their local municipalities waste lagoons and think that is what happens with livestock manure also. Never mind that there is usually a local crop farmer that is already on board and committed acres to take every gallon of manure that is produced.
