Subject: RE: Box vs CCS.....again......

Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska
The one thing I think gets overlooked comparing box planters vs CCS planters besides the easier seed handling and clean out and etc. is the down pressure on a CCS row unit always stays the same. On a box planter as the seed goes down in the box the down pressure becomes less. It will change as much as 150 lbs. from full to empty. Of course there are attachments to overcome this problem but with a CCS you don't need it.
If your going to keep the planter for 10 years or more I think you would be happier in the long run to have a CCS. Save a lot of time over the years. Likely have higher resale value so what you save now on a box planter would show up later.
