North Mo.
there are so many depends on that question I would think I am a diaper salesman. Where those cows are now i would put that forage up against any grass hay baled last year. I would suspect it is right around 12% protein. Has lots of green in it along with the more deteriorated grass. A lot of the condition of forage depends, there is that word again, on the amount of wet snow in the winter along with the amount of rain Aug Sept of the fall. Any way look at the condition of the cattle surroundings beats the he$$ out of a mud/dry lot in my book.
I have tested some years ago and at that time the stockpile was more nutritious than a bale of grass hay that year. I think the reason is most hay put up in Mo. is past its prime when rolled. Where as the normal stockpile is still in its prime.
