manitoba | over 35 years we ran an average of about 3% twins and about 10% open on a 65 day breeding season. I would say last spring your post calving herd health and nutrition was excellent. Several years ago we had a neighbor who bought in some cows that had a long calving season. He decided to spend extra money and flush the cows with grain and mineral and protein blocks right after calving and he did tighten up the calving season on his new cows and had about 12% twins in his old herd. | |
