Subject: Dead calf - Update and question.

Mid Mo
First, it was blackleg. Upon closer inspection, daylight, and having a better idea of what to look for - you guys were dead on.

So now the question..... buying fly weights since the first of the year and keep them in the lot until the bawling is done. When sure they are done bawling and healthy, I'll turn them out on small grass area. I've been waiting until I was done buying to vac, cut, tag etc.

Should I be vaccinating a few at a time as I turn out or wait and do all at once? It is easier to keep track of things doing everything at once. I've never had this problem before but not against change.

Did the vac last Sunday kick the blackleg in gear or was it going to show up anyway? Would he have lived if I had done the vac 4-6 weeks earlier when I first got him?

I don't run the numbers some of you do but still want to do it right (and profitable).
