If you decide to drive it, one thing You might want to think about is Running it in Reverse over the easy part, by backing it you will put the wear on the back side of the sprockets & pins >< Back years ago when I was in the Army Heavy Equipment, when ever we had to move a Dozer they wanted us to back up if it was in a area where that was possible, since those days anytime I am walking dozer to a new location I back it there unless its in a tight area
If you have the time I don't think it will do any damage, its not like its under a load, I have never moved one over about 5 miles at one time, never noticed any heat, I was in no hurry, run at about 3/4 speed
I find that odd, you do 3-4x more wear on chains when in reverse compared to forward. |
