Subject: RE: tmrand a couple of question

Southeast Colorado
I turned down a $3.70 bid yesterday for corn shipped 50 miles from here..............actually would have been 40 miles from this farms location (we bag the grain). If you can avoid a hail storm then irrigation gives you the ability to grow 200+ bushel corn. Our higher altitude and cooler nights can really produce grain when we just add water. This year our farm yielded 270+ but it was a really good year. I think the land payment would be a burden at $1 drop in corn price but I could probably add cattle if worse came to worse. Again...............your questions are valid. Adding cattle would help but also requires more labor which I'm definitely short of. I could just quit sleeping for a couple of years if it really went bad but not sure I want to plan on that!
